This famous Italian liqueur was first created by a wine merchant, Guiseppe Alberti of Benevento in 1860. Featuring cinnamon, juniper, wild mint, cloves, star anise, white pepper, orris root, nutmeg and saffron all macerated in grain alcohol, it is then distilled in traditional pot stills. The liqueur is matured for several months in wood prior to bottling. Aroma: pungent aniseed, peppermint, menthol, genepi and vanilla with liquorice, honey and pine. Taste: lightly syrupy with dried mint leaves, methol, lemon zest, vanilla, aniseed, pine and spearmint. Distinct parma violet floral hotes. Finish: menthol, spearmint, peppermint and piney freshness.
