Tidebrook Staddle Stone Chardonnay 12% – 1st release
East Sussex, England
100% Chardonnay, fermented and aged in second fill 228-litre Burgundian oak barrels (previously used for Jordan’s Nine Yards Chardonnay) with lees contact for 12 months and regular barrel-rolling. A small portion of tank-fermented wine was blended in to enhance to fruit flavours.
Staddle Stone is derived from the Old English word ‘stathol’, meaning foundation or support and in medieval times these mushroom-shaped stones were used to support granaries, haystacks and beehives to improve air circulation. A series of medieval staddle stones demarcates the boundary of our chardonnay vineyard at Mousehall.
Classic Chardonnay flavours with lime citrus and integrated oak. A cool-climate style characterised by refreshing linear acidity and mouth-filling fruit textures.
